Dr. Gerius Moelich, ‘n oud-leerder van Hoërskool Bredasdorp.
PhD recipient in the Department of Civil Engineering, impressed international industry stakeholders with his work in 3D printed concrete. Dr Gerius Moelich worked on improving the resilience of 3D printed concrete when it is printed in adverse drying conditions. His work culminated in proposing test protocols, mitigation measures and a model, all to reduce plastic shrinkage cracking. He also investigated the effect of surface moisture evaporation on the bond strength of subsequent filaments.
Gerius is already applying his 3D concrete expertise in industry and has joined one of the leading companies in 3D construction printing, COBOD International, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
